POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of School-Age Programs, the Day Camp Leader is responsible for working directly with children and playing an integral role in the development of building strong character values in youth. At all times, the staff is representative of the philosophy, mission, and goal of Vogel Alcove and its camping program. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with the Manager of School-Age Programs, the Sr. Director of Community Programming, and fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of Camp Vogel.

This is a temporary summer position to be performed outdoors for a minimum of 5 – 6 hours, sometimes up to a full day.

JOB DUTIES
  • Accomplish and/or assist in all functions related to the smooth running of the Camp Vogel summer program.
  • Must possess some experience working with children, maintain excellent communication skills, and sustain a positive attitude.
  • Be prepared to work with an assigned group of 8-10 campers between the ages of 5-13 and maintain the responsibility of the group at all times.
  • Ability to provide a fun and engaging experience to campers, while also providing innovative programming for assigned groups during camp time.
  • Will be responsive to camper’s needs and whenever possible involve the group in decision-making.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers.
  • Will take responsibility for the proper use, care, and storage of all camp equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain the integrity of our camp areas by practicing daily cleanliness.
  • Will follow the program’s scheduled activities.
  • Will be responsible for maintaining discipline in assigned group and other campers as needed.
  • Will review and understand all emergency drills and be prepared to implement them.
  • Will be responsible for groups on field trips and follow field trip policies.
  • Assist in the implementation of themes for each session.
  • Will be prepared to discuss any experience a child has at camp with parents.
  • Will maintain a neat appearance daily.
  • Must wear the Vogel Alcove always staff t-shirt during work hours.
  • Will attend parent meetings as scheduled.
  • Will report any accident to the Manager and Director as soon as possible and complete a written incident report.
  • Will report any equipment problems or needs to the Manager.
  • Will be available for all staff meetings and training as scheduled.

  • Will be able to cover a group of children as needed in case of staff shortage.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Will closely supervise a group of campers in all scheduled activities in camp. Must be alert to children’s activities to recognize potential hazards and accidents. Such supervision will consist of visual and auditory awareness and a pattern of circulation among the children.
  • Will be completely responsible for the safety and well-being of each child and staff in the c& must quickly move to injured or ill children or staff initiate first aid procedures. Must be able to transport (pick up or carry) children weighing up to 50 pounds in case of emergency.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 years of age.

  • At least 2 years experience working with children ages 5-13 in an organized program.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Child development, education, or recreation coursework is preferred.
  • Have the physical strength and stamina to work with children energetically.
  • Function in a varied work environment indoors and outdoors.
  • Reliable, punctual, resourceful, self-initiated, follow through on the task.
  • Must be an example of good moral behavior.
  • Must be motivated to interact with staff and children.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR Certification is current or obtain as soon as possible.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Director of Annual Giving reports to the President/CEO and is a member of the organization’s Senior Management and Development teams. The Director is responsible for strategic design, execution, management, and measurement of Vogel Alcove’s annual giving and individual giving programs, to increase gift revenue and donor engagement.

JOB DUTIES
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer to develop an integrated matrix of solicitation strategies involving tactics such as direct mail, e-mail, social media, crowd-funding initiatives, personal visits/solicitation, and donor engagement all focused on consistently increasing levels of annual support.
  • Develop strategic marketing plans in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and oversee the implementation of the goals, activities, and metrics.
  • Provide strategic direction and short- and long-range planning in the context of growing the annual giving program, while supporting the greater Development goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for building relationships with a portfolio of individual donors.
  • Manage oversight for the Classroom Champions giving club ($1,500 and above), to keep donors engaged in our programs.
  • Manage oversight for the Community Heroes and Community Heroes, Jr. program.
  • Manage oversight of the Flight program, to increase the number of monthly recurring donors.
  • Retain donors from year to year through an efficient and effective gift acknowledgment process and other stewardship initiatives.
  • Responsible for face-to-face solicitation to increase annual fund support.
  • Responsible for solicitation of sponsors and ticket sales for Blue Bird Bash event.
  • Responsible for solicitation of $3,000 and below sponsors for the Arts Event.
  • Develop and implement a community outreach strategy to increase the diversity of donors/volunteers engaged with Vogel Alcove.
  • Act as point of contact for annual giving events; at times manage and lead events.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track visits, produce contact notes, and conduct appropriate donor follow-ups.
  • Develop a portfolio of reports from the Salesforce database for measuring performance, analysis, and reporting.
  • Supervise the Development Associates and the Director of Communications.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5-7 years of Development experience including demonstrated success in annual giving, preferably in a non-profit community-based organization.
  • 5 years experience managing Marketing initiatives in previous roles.
  • Proven success in identifying and soliciting funds from individuals and corporations from a variety of sources and in developing relationships with donors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to write clear and persuasive proposals.
  • Excellent time management skills and a high degree of organization, careful attention to detail, ability to multitask, and to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of data entry systems and reporting (Salesforce experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, managing people and budgets, and an ability to work in a hands-on environment.
  • Well-disciplined, self-motivated, and goal-driven; able to work with a high degree of independence as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our program serves infants 6 weeks to children 12 years of age and we are responsible for food production in accordance to the USDA CACFP Program. The Vogel Alcove Kitchen is licensed by the Dallas County Health Department and produces quality meals and snacks to children adhering to serving sizes and focusing on fresh ingredients. Must have exceptional organization, math and technology skills to successfully perform functions required of this position.

JOB DUTIES
  • Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes, and sorts soiled dishes.
  • Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.
  • Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.
  • Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift.
  • Properly washes, stacks, and stores china, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers.
  • Changes water and cleans dish machine after breakfast dishes are finished and at the end of the shift.
  • Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries.
  • Delivers food carts to assigned rooms
  • Retrieves carts once classrooms are finished eating in a timely matter
  • Ensures carts and bus tubs are cleaned after every mealtime.
  • Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 21 years of age

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reports to the Director of Family Support and works in collaboration with the Parent Opportunity Center Coordinator working Part-Time evenings of 4-5 hours per week.

The individual will provide teaching and classroom instruction (Math, Science, Social Studies and English) to adult learning parents who would like to pursue their GED-General Education Diploma. The classes will meet two days a week at Vogel Alcove in the POC.

JOB DUTIES
  • Provide classroom instruction to 10-15 adult learners to prepare them to take the GED examination.
  • Complete GED orientation with the assistance of the POC Coordinator prior to beginning class sessions.
  • Complete intake and screen clients for appropriateness of class.
  • Prepare lesson plans to cover subject areas according to the Texas Education Agency standards.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Ensure learning objectives are clear to all adult learners.
  • Identify if adult learner is in need of tutoring assistance and provide resources as needed.
  • Reinforce Vogel Alcove classroom rules for behavior and procedures.
  • Collaborate and meet with POC Coordinator to ensure all educational needs are met to help with successful outcomes for parents.
  • Maintain educational and professional competence.
  • Post-test students after 40 hours of instruction using the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE).

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have the ability to incorporate different teaching techniques and styles to reach the adult learning population. Basic computer skills is essential to the job performance.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Provides direct care to children experiencing trauma to support their educational growth and experiences. Partner with staff to ensure the program provides quality and developmentally appropriate services to children and families and establish a work climate that nurtures growth, learning, and positive interaction while ensuring that all center regulations as mandated by Vogel Alcove Operational Procedures, NAEYC Standards, Head Start Performance Standards and TX Minimum Standards are maintained at all times. Promotes the social-emotional development of all children by prevention and/or interventions of problems that interfere with the tasks of learning. This will be done with close collaboration between case managers, parents, developmental and behavioral staff, and leaders in the organization. The employee in this position is expected to become familiar with the concepts of The Pyramid Model, Conscious Discipline, and Trauma-Informed Care or other theoretical models which inform care at Vogel Alcove.

JOB DUTIES
  • Promote and model excellence in daily program operations that support the provision of quality services for children and families, and a therapeutic learning environment where all staff can thrive; Interact and communicate with children in an age appropriate and developmentally responsive manner; Individualize interactions to a child’s special talents, interest, individual style, abilities, pace of learning and cultural/family background.
  • Responsible for daily modeling for other center staff, volunteers, and families of best practices on caregiving and engaging young children.
  • Basic care for the needs of children including but not limited to diapering and toileting, feeding and family style dining, napping and daily routines
  • Coordinate food and nutrition activities with the Kitchen Manager, Gardener, Enrichment Coordinator, and/or Nurse to ensure quality learning experiences indoors and outdoors.
  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans with activities individualized for the children in the classroom by using assessment information and observations.
  • Manage multiple forms of on-going, developmentally appropriate assessments and utilize the information to plan activities and set goals. Share assessment outcomes with families.
  • Implement and maintain the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Standards and Criteria, Head Start Performance Standards, Agency and Department Policies and Procedures, TX State Licensing minimum standards and early childhood best practices, CACFP Feeding Guidelines, Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies, Conscious Discipline strategies (including baby doll circle time and classroom commitments), monthly Reflective Supervision sessions, daily Frog Street Press Curriculum lesson plans and activities, Second Step lessons, and weekly Farm to Preschool activities.
  • Continually assess both child behavior and classroom management strategies, with emphasis on preventive practices to ensure that children acquire social/emotional skills needed to become successful in the classroom community.
  • Utilize Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Conscious Discipline strategies to prevent and reduce challenging behaviors in the classroom. Implement skills and strategies in a classroom setting with children whose challenging behaviors require intensive interventions. Participate in Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) meetings, as needed.
  • Collaborate with licensed therapists (ST, OT, PT) for children with developmental delays to increase skill development and mastery; Participate in developmental, behavioral, and mental health clinical consultations to support enrolled children and their families.
  • Responsible for completion of required data entry in agency approved data systems, for example HiMama, KidKare, TECPDS, and HSGDcis are current systems we use.
  • Facilitate classroom team meetings. Team meetings include lesson planning, zoning discussions, upcoming tasks that need completed, guiding the problem-solving process and/or seeking assistance to assure delivery of quality services.
  • Ensure that children’s allergy/dietary/medical needs are being met while in care; follow health plans for those that have one.
  • Complete necessary forms and documentation relevant to program and staff management.
  • Conduct home visits and parent teacher conferences. Provide child progress report during parent teacher conferences, home visits and/or upon request of parent. Assist families with creating school readiness and social emotional goals for their child, along with planning activities to aid in meeting these goals.
  • Set up a developmentally appropriate classroom based on Head Start Performance Standards-using Frog Street, Environmental Rating Scales (ERS) system, PBS (Positive Behavior Support) and other identified strategies with assistance from the early childhood director/assistant director.
  • Make the appropriate referrals to the Developmental and Behavioral Services Director, as needed.
  • Maintain dependable, punctual attendance, and adhere to appropriate break times.
  • Attend mandatory In-Service trainings and staff meetings.
  • Maintain required training hours and courses annually.
  • Adapt and respond to changing and challenging conditions in ways that enhance the program quality of Vogel Alcove.
  • Understand and know the signs of abuse and neglect; Responsibility to report any suspected abuse or neglect to appropriate authority.
  • Maintain daily written and oral communication with families.
  • Address all family concerns and grievances according to Vogel Alcove policy.
  • Conduct Quarterly Conferences to create a home/school collaborative team to support both the child and the classroom.
  • Develop and maintain high quality collaborative relationships with all stakeholders: teaching staff, case management, families, parents, therapists, and community partners, etc.
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled staff and departmental meetings as well as trainings.
  • Be available to travel within the DFW area for the occasional off-site professional development training or conference.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prefer a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Degree in related field with 15 hours in Early Childhood education, or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or degree in related field with 15 hours in Early Childhood. Minimum requirement is to have or obtain a CDA in the correct option.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with young children in a classroom setting preferred. Minimum requirement is none if Bachelor or Associate degree is in Early Childhood.
  • Be eligible to obtain program approval through the State.
  • Obtain CDA credentials within 6 months of employment and keep current if does not have Early Childhood equivalent degree.
  • Obtain First Aid and CPR certification at orientation and keep current.
  • Submit to and pass criminal history check, as required by the State.
  • Successfully complete a drug screen and TB skin test upon hire; Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before beginning employment.
